I've heard lots of different stories. I've heard 60k miles... then when I asked the dealer where I had bought it, they said 90k miles (of course... if you take their recommendation and it dies before then... they'll say "sorry, no guarantees... too bad... I guess you'll have to pay us big $$$$ now to fix the head, the valves, etc...), and I've heard 60k miles, then 90k at the second one. I had mine done at 75k miles, and I thought THAT was taking a chance. I'm glad I did it then, since the automatic tensioner was starting to bind up... and that may have ended in disaster if I didn't catch it in time.

It is worth it to take a look at the water pump at the same time, since it is right there. It may be worth it to just replace it... while you're at it... and save labor in the long run. A new drive/accessory belt is also recommended... since it is taken off during the process.

I now have 118k miles on my car, and it is getting close to that time. Before I took off for Audi-Fest, I had the car looked over carefully, and I had him check the timing belt too. He said it was okay at this point (well, that was about 6000 miles ago), and that I should remember to have it checked every now and then, just to be sure, since it is getting close to that time. I'll have it looked at again when I bring it in before the LimeRock event in August.

Well, hope that helps. Any more questions, feel free to ask.

Take care. Good luck.
