What a wry sense of humor. "Has any body had trouble w/these things?"  

The QC is being done by the same folks who built them originally - Blaupunkt.
That sort of explains everything.  They can repair them just as well as they
build them.
Bose, by the way, has nothing to do with the head units except for a couple
of proprietary ICs.  The head unit - and its problems - are Blaupunkt's.
(Well actually, and unfortunately, the head unit and its problems are yours,
but the Blue Dot guys are the ones responsible for them.)
