Race Series Idea: Speedster Touring Series

I've gotten to thinking lately about a racing series concept. Touring car
is taking the world by storm right now, no surprise there. It's a great
concept, with virtually unlimited availability of possible participants. In
other words everyone seems to have a 4 door midsize sedan to race.
As an offshoot of the series, how about another popular model of car used
in a touring series (no not the SUV touring series with Pac West Sponsored
Grand Cherokee). I'm thinking of a Speedster or Roadster touring series.
These are big now adays and alot of manufacturers, especially european have
one. Imagine the same premise for races. Length of time races with with 2.0
liter engine displacement and an open choice of front and rear wheel drive
as well as front and mid engine placement. The difference would be that the
car must be a 2 seater and open air (no roof).
	Possible participants could easily be:
1. Porsche Boxster
2. BMW Z3
3. Mazda Miata
4. Audi TT
5. Mercedes Benz SLK
6. Alfa Romeo Spyder
7. Fiat Barchetta Spyder
8. Lotus Elise (Realistically may dominate so maybe shouldn't be included)
9. MGD ti

And anyone else who is planning a 2 seat roadster, of medium to small size.
Dodge Copperhead or rumored 2 seat Plymouth roadster based on the Neon. Who
knows? Maybe Ford or GM would even make a 2 seat roadster. Imagine the
heritage though, of a roadster touring race being held in Southern
California etc. Maybe it would encourage Ferrari to make a low end entry
level sports car.
Alas, someday maybe. AND if the engine setup is the same as Touring Car
that means the transversely mounted 2.0 from the TT could also be used in a
Jetta Touring Car.
