I don't know where you are getting your numbers from, but Road and track
tested both the "normal" 850 Turbo Sportswagen and the 850 R (the
"pumped up" version) In the Sportswagen, w/ 222HP they got 0-60 in 7.4
seconds, top speed 150mph. In the 850R w/ 240HP they got 0-60 in 7.2,
top speed electronically limited to 155 mph.
According to an Audi S6 brochure, 0-100 km/h (62 mph) is 6.6sec for the
wagon, 6.2 for the sedan; top track speed for the wagon: 235 km/h (about
145 mph) for the sedan: 241 km/h (150 mph)
Personally, I think these acceleration figures are negligable... If a
tester for rotoM dnerT could eak out (comparing apples to oranges, of
course) 0-60 in a 993 Twin Turbo in 3.7 seconds while the Porsche
factory states 4.4 seconds, in my view they could definitely improve on
0-60 times for an AWD S6...
So consider this: Audi S6 has awd, does 0-60 in say, uhh, 6.4 , tops out
at 145mph, while the ovloV goes to 60 a second slower, yet tops out at 5
mph faster than the S6. Besides, it's probably only the gearing that's
slowing the S6 down top speed wise... which do you think has better top
gear acceleration?
So, can we finally get a consensus on the country's fastest production
wagon? I nominate the S6... (hey, maybe it's not the boxy Swede that
does it for me, just the slightly less boxy German ;*)
