Stupid fact #100345
In preparation for the Maine Summer Rally this weekend, I decided to
take off my 17X8 TSW wheels with 235-40 tires and replace them with
Yokohama Gaurdex 600 M+S tires on steel wheels. My reason? I figured
some nice puffy 205-60 tires on steel wheels would fair a bit better
than some soft metal wrapped with rubber bands while playing Rally Racer
in the woods of Rumford, Maine... And that's not even the stupid fact!
Anyway, while changing wheels/tires, I decided to weigh both types,
because I knew that one type was definitely lighter than the other.
Results: The STEEL wheels with M+S tires weighed in at 40 lbs/each. The
"light" alloy wheels with skinny tires weighed in at a whopping 49
lbs/each! Egads man! Did I take off a little unspring weight, or what?
