So, who came out first with this brilliant idea of having an odd number of cylinders, so that no 
pair would move syncroneously? Hence creating an inherently harmonically stable engine?

M-B or our beloved Audi?

I am not gonna count Honda or Volvo here, since they don't strike me as exceptionally innovative 
companies (he-he-he).
