Yep, the radio requires a couple of special tools that fit into the four
holes on either side of the radio, which will then release the radio. 
You might be able to borrow some from the local car audio shop or your
local Audi dealer, which I have done before.  I do have a set you can
borrow.  E-mail me privately if needed.
