Audi Bonfires

A couple of weeks ago I posted a message describing how to use the
factory location on the fuse panel to protect the radiator fan circuit
on later Coupes and 4k's (and 4kq's). The procedure may also apply to
other Audis. I don't have a copy handy, but the subject line read
"Radiator fan fuse retrofit" for those who would like to search the
archives. Judging by all the recent reports of burning Audis, I would
recommend this mod to EVERYONE who has an unprotected wiring harness.
Better be safe than sorry. All that is involved is moving a wire under
the fuse panel from one pin to another and inserting a fuse in the
appropriate location. It will look like done in the factory (no cheasy
Radio Shack in-line fuse there). In fact, I think it was designed to
work this way, but someone figured they could make more money replacing
dashboards and burnt wiring harnesses. Go figure. I am always amazed
at the peculiarities of Audi's wiring schemes.
