rofren brake pads problem

Hello out there.

Today I finally tried to install a set of x-drilled brembos and rofren 
pads on my '85 4ksq.  The pads, purchased from TAP, did not fit.  Not 
even close.  Even with the piston pushed all the way back there was still 
substantial pad material blocking the way to its new home.  I was just 
wondering if anyone else has had this problem?  I am going to call TAP on 
Monday.

PS  How can I tell if my brake master cylinder is failing?
