Igor's forthcoming UK trip
(Not much Audi content . . .)
Best way I've found to keep my sanity on those LOOOONG trans-Atlantic flights:
Go to your local Wal-mart or (better) sporting goods shop, and buy a pair of
"good old boy style" (not a brand name) shooter's ear protectors - about $15
or so.
Look for the highest DB rating you can find - at least higher than 29 DB.
They look odd, but I have had sophisticated, urbane, cosmopolitan air
hostesses absolutely GROVEL for "just five more minutes, please!!!!"
Put them on, don't say anything about them, and after a little while, the
air hostess will come over and ask "What are those?" Don't explain - just
hand them to her and say "Try them on!" The expression you'll get is worth a
million dollars.
Audi content - still chasing Hal, who is complaining about brake pads (which
are fine), still feeding green gold into the resevoir, but I did find the
$150 rebuilt rack place - nice people! - and he said the Audi 5000 business
has dropped off lately. Discovered a frozen LR caliper (so THAT'S why the
brake disk is rusty!) . . . more, I'm sure.
But hey, its an Audi, and quite frankly my dear, I'm keeping it! I could
have exactly the same troubles on another brand of car, spend as much money
to fix it, but have only a pile of garbage when I'm done. At least with the
Audi, when I'm done, I like it! (PS for Igor - I kept a Chrysler K car
running for nine long years - and it wasn't new when I got it - It was known
in town as the "Energizer Aires" - and I'm SO GLAD its gone!)
Best Regards,
Mike Arman
