1987 5kcdq acting very strange

Don't bother - that's not it.
 
It's obviously gone super-rich.  Most likely one of the O-rings in the metering 
head has failed,  or the warm-up regulator has gone ga-ga.  Check the warm-up 
regulator for continuity between the pins (there's a heater in there that might 
have failed).

Ideally, you should check system and control pressure in the fuel injection.
