Rob, on my '91 200 wagon, when I stop the car after coming the long hill to
my house, the engine is quite hot.  After a minute or 2 both the cooling
fan AND the coolant pump come on, as they are supposed to according to my
Bently manual.  But you sure can't hear the coolant pump over the roar of
the cooling fan, although if you really get in there where the hot air is
coming out of the cooling fan and listen, you can just hear the coolant
pump.  That's it.  If you don't have the cooling fan on, then the coolant
pump won't be on either, unless you REALLY have a bum wiring job.
