More "EXHAUST"ING questions...
Inspired by Brendan Rudack's incredible sounding custom exhaust system (as witnessed during the 3,000 mile drive out to Pike's Peak), I chose to upgrade my system. I could not easily or cheaply find a system for my '92 100S (FWD with V-6). The only one that I could find was a Remus, at the "tune" of $469.00 U.S.!! Yike's!!
Needless to say, that's a bit steep... for just the muffler!! Granted it's stainless, but come on now....
Anyway, I was considering a Borla, but while looking through my local Pep Boys, I saw a catalog for a Pacesetter Monza sport muffler. It is painted black, with chrome tips, with yellow accents inside. Nice looking... kinda' like the ones you see on some Ferraris. I posted a couple of pictures up on my web-page: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/4475/mycar.html , for those who are curious....
At $80.00 U.S., I figured I'd give it a shot. I installed it this past weekend. It sounds better than OEM, and seems to give a bit more power, but... it still seems a tad bit tame.
What I am wondering is this: Has anyone had any experience (and Brendan, feel free to comment) with removing the front, center resonator/muffler, especially on the V-6, like mine? Will it be obnoxiously loud... to the point that I'll (and my neighbors and the police) hate it? Will it give me even more power? What if instead of just putting in a straight pipe, I put in a Cherry Bomb Turbo (which is like a straight pipe, but with some baffling) or a tube-like glass pack muffler? Would this give me the desired result?
I am looking for maybe a bit more aggressive sound, and more power (i.e. every little bit helps with the V-6, since there aren't many mods available). I guess I could just try it, and put back the OEM one if it is TOO much, but I figured I'd ask the group first.
TIA for any comments/feedback.
