Carbon canister and mice in the hood...

First off,  after letting the 5ktq sit since I left for Mt. Wash, way back
when, it seems that some mice decided to make the hood their home.  I
almost %^$& my pants when I took the washer nozzle plug out of the
underside of the hood and a little furry nose sniffed my finger!  I
suppose this isn't as bad as those turkey's pecking at some fellow listers
Audi... who was that anyhow?

More importantly,  Is there a problem in deleting the carbon canister
altogether?  I believe Graydon ridded of his when he put EFI in, but will
something in the CIS
get goofed up when it tries to fire up the carbon canister shut-off
solenoid
and nothing is there?
