Re: Loose door panels (was something else now forgotten)

Indeed, as noted in the last digest, the panels are mounted using
plastic fingers that attach to slots in the door over rubber pieces.
I just removed my driver's door panel last Sunday to investigate the
bowden cable (which I have to replace) and the reason for the loose
door bottom was evident. Not only was the lower part of the door
panel not in the slots, only 2 of 7 rubber pieces could be found. I
think you will find that many cars have had alarms installed at one
time or another, which are often removed by resellers. Their
attention to detail is suspect. I will soon find out, I guess, how
many hands it takes to get all plastic fingers into their door slots
simultaneously.

I also discovered no cabling to my lock such as would provide power
for heating. I did see a potentially relevant cable mount though. Do
any of you know when the 90qs started getting auto-heated locks
(supposedly pulling up on the door handle causes the lock to heat and
deice itself).

Cheers
