oversteer, understeer?

Hi Audiophiles,
I have always gone catatonic at the mere sound of the words
oversteer and understeer but while going around my favorite off ramp and
just a few mph faster than my top speed I had an insight.
If the rear end breaks loose and begins to slid the car would be
making a more acute turn than dictated by the position of the front wheels.
Oversteer??? On the other hand if the front end breaks loose and begins
to slid the the car will be making a less acute turn than dictated by the
position of the front wheels. Understeer??
	Did I get this right?
