What happening now - part 2

Additional to my earlier message :
 
I've just put 2 litres of water into my radiator - thats 3 litres in two days 
and 60 miles, went for a 10 mile drive, no water used, no mist from the 
exhaust. 
I am really puzzled.
Could it be that when I last topped it up the heater controls were set to cold 
and the heater had an airlock in it? I did open the heater for a few minutes 
this morning,  (Yes I know that we've had another 30 degree day in the north 
of England, but the Vale of York was at 7 deg and misty this morning) maybe 
thats where the water went?
