Cruise Control Diagnosis

	The 87 5KTQ I purchased has a dead cruise control system...  (no
surprise, right?).  I followed the trouble-shooting guide in Bentley, and
have arrived at the last step:
	REPLACE THE CRUISE CONTROL MODULE
	(this would be the small, silver box under the dash)

	Has anyone tried trouble-shooting this beastie on the component
level?  Are there common failure modes in the circuitry (ie. transistors
which usually fail, protection resistors which burn-out, etc)???  I plan
to launch into this thing tonight, and thought I'd fly this by the list
first to query the knowledge pool..  Any advise would be appreciated..
