RE: : UrQ Radiator Replacement (Dialynx Charge Cooler)

Paul et al,

For those interested, a brief description of the Dialynx charge cooler
system. I saw these in production at Pace Products, near Bury St. Edmunds,
Suffolk (England) during a qOC jolly out this summer. Pace manufacture kit
for several BTCC teams (including Volvo, Peugeot) including dry sump gear,
rads, intercoolers and aftermarket performance parts for race/road cars.

Basically, the charge cooler (water to air) replaces the OEM intercooler.
The hot water from the charge cooler then is pumped to a small radiator,
which sits in the location normally reserved for the aux. rad. The theory
being that the OEM intercooler gets a less than generous amount of airflow
due to it's somewhat hidden location behind the front spoiler. Thus better
cooling can be achieved using air directly from the grill into the small
rad mentioned above.

The deletion on the aux. rad means that a bigger main rad is needed. The
Pace rads are triple cored, highly polished ally devices, that are worth
the (not inconsiderable) money just for the looks! These differ from the
standard Ur-q main rads in not having the plumbing for the aux. rad, being
of larger capacity and allegedly more efficient than the standard setup.

Aelred says that mods to the fueling system are needed to take into account
the denser charge, so presumably the system works...! No body mods are
required, the only dent will be in your wallet...

Hope that answers any questions.

Malc Pearce.

Phil,

Can you tell us about the charge cooling system? It is air to
air, or is it water to air, or what. Also what about dimensions,
and whether they push out the grill?

p.s. I just had my radiator cleaned out for $60.00.
