ABS screwed?

On the contrary, your ABS is fine. All Bosch ABS systems go through a
self test when the vehicle is first started. As the ABS sensors
recognize wheel speed, and ascertain that the signal from all sensors is
correct (at 3-4 mph) the solenoids and pump run briefly as well. That's
the noise you hear. If you have your foot lightly on the brake, you'll
also feel ABS activation through the brake pedal at the same time. If
everthing was not functioning correctly, your ABS warning light would
come on, and the system would turn off (no ABS). As for why it is
activating when coming to a gentle stop, more details on conditions
which this happens are needed.
