When we (Canada) first got unleaded, everyone was worried about their 
cars...  Some were paying alot to have their engines rebuilt with 
harded valve seats, etc...

By the time leaded fuel was discountinued (maybe 15 years ago), the 
oil companies had developed working additives (as opposed to the early 
ones) to counter the lack of valve seat lubrication.  The unleaded 
fuel will cause no problems what so ever, and the spark plugs run alot 
cleaner.  (for example we have a 1949 ford 9n farm tractor used daily, 
no problems yet, and it was definitly not designed for unleaded.)

I find it hard to believe you guys still have leaded (and your greens 
try and tell us we are poluting our country!)
