Tom,

I was talking to the owner of a engine rebuild shop on Thursday about this 
subject. Well, more like I was sounding him out about valve seats for my 
quattro ready for the year 2000 leaded ban. He said that the seats in all the 
Audi 5 cylinder heads that they had worked on were of very high quality and 
would run lead free with no problem. He then said that whether the engine 
would run ok on low octane was another matter and all I could do was to try it 
and find out that way.
