Q about Syncro VW's

     Hi,
        Sorry for the tech question on Syncro.
        Can anyone out there tell me information about the common parts 
     shared between the Audi Quattro ( 4000 ) and the Quantum Syncro Wagon? 
     I'm told the Syncro Vanagons are a completely different animal, but I 
     don't know if that's factual.
     
        For instance, do the two share anything?  I've looked at the rear 
     "banjo" diff/rearend of a 4000 CS Q and it looks completely different 
     on the outside than my QSW rear diff.
     
        I'm especially interested in whether the 5 spd trans is the same on 
     the two cars.
