quick oil question

I think a lot of that is the 'awareness/discovery' effect.  Anyone changing to 
synthetic is starting to pay attention to engine life issues, and starting to 
look more closely at what's going on.  And is thus more likely to spot things 
that were going wrong anyway.

Absolutely.  Both of my rear brake piston boots were split.
