Flashing Check Engine Light

Read the owner's manual.

The light _never_ stays on.  It lights for around a second to tell you that a 
code has been stored.  Then it goes out, and lights again if there is another 
event.  I would suggest you read the recent archives and pull the codes that 
are being stored.

And yes, it _DOES_ warrant a trip to the repair shop.
