Fuel Leak/Distributer rattle/timing belt 200 20v
For the sake of bandwidth, I won't repeat the whole story, but short
version is: Hear rattle, find fuel leak while looking for rattle. Rattle
is distributer. Distributer rattle maybe from loose timing belt. I
looked at the timing belt today and there are cracks all the way across
every eighth inch all the way around (or as far as I can see)! Yikes,
this must be the original belt at 95k miles. Guy at Coastal Performance
will change it for $275 so it's going in on Tuesday. He recommended
having it towed over there (on a flatbed of course) and I think I'm
going to go with his recommendation. Moral: Audi God's give hearing
tests. If I hadn't been listening the timing belt would have went
(destroying a perfectly good 20 valve engine) and probably caused the
leaking fuel to ignite and.... Well you get the picture.
By the way, thanks everyone for loudly suggesting I check the timing
belt. Listers Rule!
