MB 600 & Paris crash
My company has a pair of MB600s for our CEO, one in the US and one in Europe.
So we get all the MB materials, including copies of all their safety research.
These are the 4th or 5th equivalent versions that our CEO has acquired. Aside
from the issue of whether public companies have that sort of duty to provide
equivalent transport to mere hirelings (vs owners), a couple of things relating
to this terrible accident.
The cars are very powerful, with plenty of bottom end torque. Our Paris based
car works out its traction control on a daily basis. Our driver in Paris has no
more knowledge of how to control a (possibly) unweighted swerve at 100mph or
100kmph, then many of us would in a Shelby Cobra (same sort of torque). Yes he
has got us from the 7th to CdeG in 30 minutes at 10.30 am on a weekday, but did
he know what he was doing.....nah, and its a common problem for MB who offer
the equivalent training for professional drivers. ourses seem much like our
QUSA Club training. He wont go, and our CEO is indifferent ('he drives well,
yknow').
Phil, is there any news on the body guard. We dont even have a name released
for either of the (conjectured) fron seat victims. I am beginning to suspect
the bodyguard may have been SAS?
But I have to agree with the idea posed in the forum, what if they were in a
Qship, or a Renault....if my aunty had balls, she would be my uncle! Sorry for
the profanity, but lets keep this on a technical basis so we can learn from
eachother and stay away from the media hype.
Just my half crown and Phil will tell you how little thats worth today.
