A very likely culprit is the timing belt idler wheel just above the water pump.
Another possibility is the A/C clutch bearing. You should be able to easily
eliminate the hydraulic pump with the screw-driver-as-listening-aid trick since
it's right out there where you can touch it. Ditto the A/C compressor area.
Oh, make sure you are not being fooled by a catalytic converter shroud rattle.
Sometimes the damn things have mastered ventriloquism. Best luck,
