83' 5000 turbo
Hello everyone,
I went and looked more closely at the 5000t in question. When I
did a compression test on it I got about 90 pounds. Is this consistent
with the 2.1 liter, 7:1 compression motor. It seems it is about right as
the UR should make around 110 but is higher compression.
Also, call me dumb but I cant remember what color smoke dictates
burning oil. WHen you would floor it some dark smoke would come out of
the exhaust. Is this bad rings or is it just running rich.
When I drove the car with its WONDERFUL :) 3 speed auto it seemed
like a dog of the line which I expected. It didn't make power untill 4k
rpm when you could really feel the turbo kick in. Is this about right or
should it kick in lower. It seemed faster than my 4000q from 4k rpm on
up. Does anyone know how much the old 81-83 body style weighed. Is it
more than my 4kq or is about the same. It is a larger car but doesn't
have the quattro drivetrain.
Once again, any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
