4kq rough cold idle
THanks to all who made suggestions on my idle problem.
I fixed the one know vacumme hose that was bad which happened to
be the Vacumme advance for the distributor but that didn't help much.
Then I looked at the hose that was collapsing coming from the ISV. When I
pulled it of I noticed it was ripped wide open on the bottom. WOW! I
guess that was my big Vacumme leak. I used a ton of Electrical tape to
carefully wrap it tight, then put a hose clamp around that section and
snugged it up. After that I put some 1/2" copper tubing in the top
section for support and put it back in. Hey, guess what. It idles now.
It is still rough when cold but at least it isn't dying on me now.
I also seem to have a miss at low RPM even when the engine is
warm. I have new wires, cap, rotor and plugs. What else should I check.
I ran some Fuel injector cleaner through it and it didn't do a thing. Any
ideas. Oh, if it helps any, I have a back fire when I let off the gas at
speed but if I open the throttle just a tad it goes away. I thought rich
mixture, right. Well, I pulled the plugs and they are not black, or
brown. Rather, they are part brown and part white. The white looks like
a burnt, chlorine gas green and white colored white. Is this lean. My
timing was on last time I checked when It was still doing this.
Any suggestions would be great.
