My quick fix - use what you have at hand rule (and in use for the last 100,000 
km has been one of those black metal spring paper clips. It is just slipped on 
close to the hinge end. To go from up to against window screen simple apply 
forefinger and thumb forse to spring - remove clip -adjust visor and reinser 
clip.

While it isn't perfect (there is a bit of sag in the full up position) it is 
right for the price...

I did try a replacement from the boneyard but found it had the same disease, 
got my $50 back.
