Hello all.... New Audi Owner...

Hello everyone...

I have been on the list for around 5 months now, have not posted much, as I have wanted to get a feel for things and do some work on my Audi first before asking questions.  I know I meet a few of you at Mt. Wash.  it was great to see so many great Audi's all lined up.

Over the last 2 1/2 months, I have dont the following to my 87 4KCSQ:

Fluids all around ( Cept for that rear 90 weight I have to order )
Yoko A509's
Replaced HL bulbs ( little difference, still horrid )
Altenator belt ( Should it have been that hard? Sigh.... )
Couple of vacuum lines
Plugs
Cap/Rotor
Front Pads
Rear Tie Rods
Rear Ball joints
Rear Strut Inserts ( Boge gas )
Rear Bearings
Rear Upper strut bearings
Rear Calipers
Rear Boots
E-Brake cables
Rear Disks
Rear Pads
Rewired the drivers door so all the neato electronics now work
( Thanks Stott/Chris for info/help/parts ! )

I know have a few questions on performance/upgrades/maint.  Now Stott and Chris you are not allowed to flame me for silly questions here....

Lights?  I cant see a dang thing!  I know the cost and features of putting in Euro or Bosch lights, I will do this, but the car needs attention in other places first.  But, I would like to install some driving lights.  Concerning this I would appreciate any suggestions on driving lights.  But more importantly is where to mount the things.  I have looked all over the bumper and front skirt and I have not found a place that I think is "safe".  I dont want to mount them to low, so they get smacked in the snow.  I have pondered in building a braket that slides down under the "dead" reflector and between the bumper, as there is a solid mounting point behind the reflector.  Has anyone done this?  If so what was the procedure?

Power? I am not sure as I have only been a passanger in other 87 4KCSQ's, but I am convinced that I am not getting all the power I should. Here we go, I need to replace all the fuel filters and the accumulator ( looking pretty sad ), have not done this in fear of all the rubber mounts under the car, and there are some other things I am sure I am missing... Power seems a ok til 3000 RPM, sluggish to 3500RPM, jumps at 4K ( pun intended ) and then very very sluggish to 5K, from here the tach "sticks" at 5K, never passing it. I mean stuck, needle never moves.  I am sure the care is past 5K, it still pulls, but never goes past this.

So.. I know I have some problem with the tach which needs to be looked at, BUT, where is all my power going any suggestions?

Lastly Exhaust?  Previous owner did a few patch welds here and there, I dont have any leaks, its very quiet, err isnt that a problem? =)  I have seen Super Trapps installed on 84 4KQ's, and decided that was to loud for me.  I would like some opinions strickly on Borla's ( I have read all the threads on Stebro and Scorps, but dont wish to put that much money into exhaust at this time ), so I am wondering who has put Borla free flow exhausts on their 85-87 4KQ's?  I would like information on weither you upped to 2.5" and if you took out the middle muffler or not?  How did it sound?  Too loud for an daily driver?

I realise there are a few to many points here but I am thinking of winter and want to solve some of these issues before my first FUN winter in a Quattro!  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  And yes I have looked in the Archives for related topics.....

Thanks all...
