While driving the interstate near Lubbock, TX last summer and with lots of
time to kill , I got out my handy Sears adjustable timing light and did
some 3rd gear tests from 1000 through 6500 rpm. I've heard lots of rumors
on this list about how much advance to use; but no numbers to back them up.
If anyone is interested I'll share my numbers when I get back home (I'm in
Seattle this week). Bottom line is with the UrQ exhaust and Schrick cam the
stock timing yielded the best overall acceleration through the whole range.
