URQ Boge Gas Not in US-UK available?

I am trying to find a reasonable cost replacement shock with a mild
improved performance profile. I know this subject has been revisisted
many times with all different interpretations. With an otherwise stock
car and springs, I think Boge is the way for me to go. Whether to go
with stock hydraulic or gas or turbogas, and where to find the gas
shocks (UK?). Other choices have been the Bilsteins and Konis, too
expensive and too harsh(?). There are KYB's out there that fit, I'm told
they don't do well on German cars--Opinions om all of the above,
sources  or experience are most appreciated.Thanks  Rob Greene
