A little "achtung" here. Ensure that the throttle opens fully when the
pedal-stop (bump on floor of cabin) is reached. "Slack" in the cable is
then fine. Overtightening doesn't cause any problems other than a broken
throttle cable.

'87 4kq with properly adjusted cable and switch :-)  , but still no
boost guage :-(
