4000CS Q Oil Pressure & Right Turns
Hi,
Here is one for the list of bizzare problems.
The car:
1987, 4000 CS Q US-California model
Milege unknown, low oil consumption, good
compression.
The Problem:
When turning right at slightly higher speeds
than your typical american driver, my oil
pressure light flashes. It goes away
just after the turn and even faster if I let up
on the gas. This is not a low oil level problem
because it happens just after oil changes too.
4 Qts. US 10W30 standard or Mobil 1.
I can put the car into a four wheel
slide turning left and not have this problem.
A related problem is ticking lifters or vacuum
pump after startup (excessive amount) and ticking
after hard acceleration. This will go away for
a week or two after an oil change and then
re-appear. It can then be controlled by oil
additives till the next oil change.
Has anyone else seen a similar oil problem?
Could my oil pump be dying?
As for the pressure light, I am going to hook up
a 5 bar guage and 1.8 bar switch/sender from
a 4E. Since I will have to route my own sender
wire I can rule out the possibility of a lose wire.
What pressure levels should I expect to see?
Thanks,
Damon
