Rebuilding my own turbo

I've got an 84 5kst with one of those bastard non watercooled turbos. It's
my second one and I'm starting to believe that even with cooling down and
1000k mile oil changes the thing won't last. I mean I did use a used turbo
that the previous owner supplied for no charge with the car. It worked
well for about 8 or so months. The damn thing is smoking again and if it
follows the same pattern as the original turbo, it might
sieze....repeatedly. I'm surprised that the turbo I pulled off of the car
was dated the year it made meaning that it lasted since it was made. I saw
a Turbo City ad saying that they offer rebuild kits for the turbos. Does
anybody have experience with these kits? How much? Talk to all
