White gauge void warranty

hi guys,
Today I had the NR white face gauges installed in my 98 A4 2.8 Q. When 
picking up the car I was told that according to Audi, any modification 
to the instrument cluster would void the warranty regarding that 
instrument. The dealer had talked to the Audi rep while my gauges were 
being installed. He said that if he had known this he would not have 
recommended installation. So if you have a new car or one which is still 
under warranty, you will lose it on the gauges. The dealer wasn't aware 
of this void because we spoke heavily of warranty concerns with 
aftermarket products. Hope you guys haven't made a mistake.
