89 200 tq value
I am looking at a 89 200 turbo quattro with 135,000 miless. Seller is
asking 5,000. My concern is with the list of replacements that will be
coming if the 89 is anything like my 87 5000 tq which has 160,000.
It is a greater car, and do not regret money spent on replacement parts
for it shall be passed down to my daughter who needs to replace her 86
5000s. Supposedly the seller has only replaced the the front
shocks, heater interior blower motor, 2 rear
caliphers and perhaps the rear wheel bearing. This still leaves an awful
lot of items which should need replaced unles your experience with the 89
has substantially improved. In fact I am amazed she has not already had
to
replace items, such as, heater core, steering rack(89 reportedly has
improved design), tie rod ends, power steering pump, brake pressure
accumulator, radiator, radiator fan, rear shocks. Car is red with bbs
wheels so it makes a nice appearance even though it was hit in rear -
trunk lid replaced and both rear fenders straightend - getting car checked
by my mechanic this weekend. I have spoken with acquaintances who tell me
the 5,000 asking price is not out of line even with the 135,000 miles. I
will probaly buy it for about 4500 and keep my fingers crossed. Any input
on what repairs to expect on the 89 as compared to the pre 89 audis? Any
input on value would also be appreciated.
