Special tool 2069 (front shock removal) - Substitutes?

New shocks just arrived and I'm trying to figure out how to remove 
the cap that holds it in the strut.  Bentley says to use 2069 which 
I can't seem to find in my wee tool box :-(  

My Dad has a BIG set of adjustable pliers that I'll try to use 
through the spring (I know they'll fit 'cause I used them on the 
4ks job), but I thought I'd ask the list to see if anyone else has 
a better idea.  I want to do the work this weekend so equivilant 
tools would have to be pretty easily available.

My other thought was to make my own tool out of a pipe.  My Dad and 
I have some pretty big impact wrench sockets (upto about 30mm) that 
I could use as a quasi-form if someone could tell me the size 2069 
tool.
