Lock the diff in a dry parking lot. then gently drive forward and begin to
turn. If the diff is in fact locked, you will feel resistance to the turn. If
you do feel this resistance don't force it, but straighten back out and
unlock the diff(you may have do back up slowly to take the pressure off the
gears). You feel the resistance because, by definition the inside and out
side wheels each need to turn at different rates, but with the diff locked
they must turn at the same rate, hence the tires will scrub around the turn.
Be GENTLE as this puts a lot of freight on the differentials.
