Re: '98 Passat Syncro -Reply
The new Passat is not available with any sort of sport suspension. Period.
The wheel/tire combo on the V6 syncro is 6.5x16 with 205/55R16 tires. No
other choices given. There are four available interiors: standard,
Comfortline, Trendline, Highline. Standard and Comforrtline have reg.
seats and wheel, Trendline and Highline have sports seats/wheel. The
195/65R15 is standard tire for all except V6 syncro, 205/60R15 and
205/55R16 available for others. The Passat is not geared for the "driving
crowd" as a standard suspended (Euro) A4 will drive circles around it.
Don't get me wrong, the car is wonderful in its own way, but it is designed
for the family car crowd. Certainly it can be changed, but at this time,
the factory does not offer any tighter underpinnings. BTW, just by
orderinc Highline or Trendline, one does not get ANY sort of alloy wheels -
it is the hubcaps and steel wheels with the 195/66R15's. Even the lowliest
1.6L 101hp A4 (or the 90hp TDI) comes with alloys. Hmmm.....
We have definitely noticed that the people buying one over the other are
very different, just like people who buy Timex and Omega. ;^)
People flock to our showroom to buy the new Passat, but the drivers choice
is (still) the A4. Just come and look in my garage (unless I've brought
the 911 home).
