RE: Shocks again
I would dig deeper for the Boge Turbo-gas shocks. I had 4 installed on my 5K wagon, non turbo, non quattro. They have been great and are better priced than Audi OEM, even though, as you state they are the OEM supplier. Now if I could only tell you where I got them I would be of some real help. I do not remember the source, other than it was a mail order shop out of, I believe, Texas. Their price was good as was their technical advice.
BTW if you find the right shop, you can have the front struts done for 1 hour labor! At that rate it's not worth getting your hands dirty, not tomention looking for a spring compressor to rent/borrow. You need to find someone who has the right tool (it's listed in the Bentley manual, mine is packed away in storage following a move so I can't give you more detailed help there either) With that tool they remove the strut insert from the top of the strut tower without ever lifting the car! It is an easy job with the right tool, 1/2 hr per side.
good luck.

Subject: Shocks again
G'day folks,
Just tried to order a pair of Boge Turbo-gas for the rear of my '86 5kcsTQ
and was told they don't make them. How bloody ridiculous is that. They're
the OE supplier, and they make 'em for the front...rant, rant...
Something about not being able to make them fit. Am I missing something?
Anyway, what to do. I had hoped to have equal damping on all 4 corners so
I'm looking for some help/suggestions.
