yet another '91 200q questions question



Hi all,

I just snagged a 200q sedan, so I *had* to join the q-list, and have been 
lurking in the archives for a couple weeks. My 3-vol Bentley set is on the way, 
but before it gets here...

* What's the rim size & offset required by my UFO brakes? I want some Hakkas, 
since this will be my skiing car. Tire Rack has a steel wheel + Blizzak package 
listed for UFOs, but I am not that impressed with the (too-wide) Blizzaks on my 
(too-light) GTI. There are some ads in _european car_ for Hakkas, but not 
necessarily the proper size wheels. Could just call TR and ask them what wheels 
those are, I suppose.
* US DOT lights suck, suck, suck. Where can I find some E-code replacements? I 
want to be able to see at night like I can in my GTI. Should I open up my TAP 
account now?
* What is the airflow metering method used by this car's Motronic? There's a 
cover over the relevant area that I don't want to mess with yet (it's much 
easier to just type instead) but is it a moving-flap or hot-wire system? If 
it's moving-flap, has anyone heard of a hot-wire conversion kit like I see all 
over for 944 turbo's? Dad's getting one of those kits, you see.
* Not that I can think about power upgrades until winter is over with, anyway, 
but does increasing boost on the 20valve turbo still involve changing a 
wastegate spring, or is it all electric/electronic twiddling?
* How am I going to 'can the Bose system without spending a couple thousand 
bucks?
* How do I keep Dad from driving my GTI *and* 200q while his 944t is laid up 
and he's whining about having to drive his diesel Rabbit? He messes up the seat 
and radio. Please help me.
