Smooth Auto Tranny
<snip>
"....regular dino oil. I believe they came stock with synthetic, about a
year
later I changed to Mobil 1 tranny fluid, the shifting was EXTREMELY
SMOOTH."
I've heard it suggested that SMOOTH shifting comes at the expense of
tranny wear. There are many things involved in smooth tranny shifts,
and not just the type of oil, can someone shed some light on this? Does
that smooth Ford slushbox that takes 2 seconds to shift actually limit
the longevity of the tranny. Or is the quicker Audi style of shift with
a controlled "jerk rate" a compromise for longer tranny life..... or
maybe just bad engineering?
