Re[2]: Fuel Distributor Rebuild?

Turbo,
Interesting name!!! When I couldn't locate the specific brand of Loctite
that Phil Payne suggested (#54266) I went to the Loctite web site
http://www.loctite.com and found a wealth of information on all of their
products. They have test data on % strenth loss while subjected to
different solvents and oils. After reasearching all this I tried to seal my
unit with Loctite 518. It was a little thicker than I wanted, it is almost
like a paste. I am now waiting for the 24 hour cure with my fingers
crossed.

According to the Loctite info Loctite 290 is real thin for wicking under
bolts that are already installed. It has average % strength loss when
subjected to gasoline - probably a better choice than the stuff I used.

The data for Loctite 262 was about the best for % strength loss but I guess
this is super high strength and it is almost impossible to get the parts
apart if needed.

I did this once and used Loctite brand #290 to seal the dist halves.Use
very little and be sure to line up the parts correctly, there is a little
hole in the center plate, watch for this.
