Aha!

Someone with the same problem I have!  Actually, when I had new front brakes
installed I asked the tech to find out what was causing the clunks....... he
indicated that it was a worn strut bearing (which I did NOT have changed when I
had new struts installed)...... I have not, however, tested this hypothesis by
having new bearings installed..........
