Mercedes AWD

Coulda', driven it!

But I opted for an hour and a half drive in an SLK with the top down.
Caught a cold.

I just returned from the full line debut of the '98 Mercedes' in DC. The
real push was on the new C-class based CLK coupe. Sweet car.

They also had two AWD E320s. I haven't cracked the huge press kit but I
can tell you the system is a 35/65 F-R split. No floating torque splits I
believe. The system adds 198 (189?) lbs of weight. Is far lighter and far
simpler and less expensive to produce than the previous 4-matic.

That f-r split worked very well for Ford in the Sierra and sure made a
killer car out of the Lancia Integrale. Me?, I think alot of us would like
a split like that more than the 50-50 us older cars have. As I like RWD I
know I would. But I got what I got.

I'll read up and post more.
