5000 AC behavior

I finally got around to replacing my heater core last weekend, after
bypassing it for the summer when it started leaking in the spring.  The
replacement, althought time-consuming, went well.  The only problem, is
that when the climate control is in any position but "off", the heater
water valve is open, it appears that the car thinks it is always cold
inside, no matter how low I set the temp.  Could I have done something
to the interior temp sensor?  I'm going to check the fault codes today. 
I think the programmer is OK, as it pulls a vacuum to the water valve,
closing it, when I push the "off" button.

Any ideas?
