electrical gremlins? Coupe GT
I love 'em.
I finally aligned my motor tonite, and changed the oil (got that Fram
offa there, never again!). Took the car out for a test drive, and after
shifting into <uh?> fourth, the headlites went out and the windshield
wipers came on momentarily! Then it went back to normal. Uh,
...allllrighty then! I guess I still have problems!
I tried to figger out what I could. I _still_ need some help with this
black/blue wire on the left side of the engine, in the round connector,
that plugs into the harness that goes to the back up lite switch and the
other switch in the side of the tranny. This wire's shorted to ground
with the key off, but is positive with the key on!
I did some checking, and I've got some questions.
To the best that I can tell with my el cheapo multimeter, this is what I
get with the four wires in the round connector, key on and key off:
(NOTE: I'm checking the side that stays with the car if you remove the
tranny with the harness attached, not the side that goes _to_ the
tranny)
color key on key off
----- ------ -------
black/ 12v + 1.6 ohms
blue to ground!
blue/ .7 ohms .7 ohms
red to ground to ground (no change)
brown/ 12v + 900 ohms
white to ground
brown ground ground
My back up lites have never worked since I bought the car used, and my
computer fuse was popping before from very hard jars to the
chassis/engine (bumps, race shifting, etc.)
I also have some questions about the fuse box (man was I panicked when
half didn't have power! then I tried it with the lights on, engine
running, etc. phew!)
Fuses number 5 and 14 don't seem to have any power whatsoever, with the
key on or off. Is this OK? It sho' don't seem right!
Help! Should I go to Radio Shack, 'coz I've got questions!
